Project Overview
Armstrong Scaffolding installed perimeter commercial scaffolding at Volks Railway Station in Brighton to support external painting and roofing works. The structure was erected around the station building to provide contractors with safe working platforms for refurbishment at roof level and along the exterior.
Site Requirements
This project called for a scaffold capable of supporting multiple trades simultaneously. Painting works and roofing works both needed dependable access, so the scaffold had to provide consistent coverage around the station while remaining practical for the live site environment.
Set in a prominent seafront location, the installation also needed to be neat, well organised, and suited to a building that remains highly visible from the surrounding area.
Scaffold Layout
We installed a scaffold structure around the outside of the station building, creating working platforms across the elevations and up to roof level. The layout followed the building's shape and provided the site team with the coverage needed to move safely and efficiently between project areas.
The result was a straightforward, functional scaffold setup that matched the building's scale and the contract's requirements.
Why This Project Stands Out
Volks Electric Railway is one of Brighton's most recognisable seafront landmarks, so the scaffold needed to perform under public scrutiny while accommodating two trades working in parallel. Coordinating painting and roofing access on a heritage building in such a visible setting demonstrates the kind of refurbishment work Armstrong Scaffolding is built around.
Outcome
The finished scaffold supported both painting and roofing works with a safe and practical setup around the station. It is a strong example of Armstrong Scaffolding's approach to refurbishment access, delivering the right scaffold for the building, the works, and the surrounding environment across Brighton, London, Kent and the South East.
